‘The Seventh Season is fast approaching, and for the first time, I am alone.’

For as long as memory, Blair’s family have guarded against the Seventh Season — a period that falls every one and a half years in which reality and imagination blur, allowing creatures from dreams to slip into the real world. It was her mother’s duty, and now it falls to her. She doesn’t feel ready. She is too young, too inexperienced, too overwhelmed by the duties ahead of her, almost resigned to failure. Then, she meets a stranger, lost and in need of a place to stay. The young woman’s experiences are a world away from Blair’s, and Blair is fascinated by the stories she brings. Over time, she becomes fond of the woman, in a way she has never experienced. With her, Blair feels at home — something she didn’t think possible. But this comes at a cost. It is no longer just her life at stake. And this Seventh Season is stranger and more volatile than any Blair has ever heard of. The woods are quick to remind her that they know her better than anyone.
